BAS Agents New Legislation Now In Effect

What is a BAS Agent?  A BAS Agent is able to offer services to Business Activity statements for a fee.  Legislation passed a new law that was put into effect on March 1st, 2010 that made any bookkeeper that wanted to provide these services for a fee must be registered as A BAS agent or must be working under supervision of a tax or bas agent.  In order to be compliant with the new legislation bookkeepers must have 1400 hours experience and have a minimum qualification of a certificate in IV Financial Services for accounting or Bookkeeping. it possible to finding a BAS Agent in  the Australia’s Largest Bookkeepers Directory via a website or a telephone directory book.  It is important to become a BAS Agent so services can be provided and no fines are issued to a bookkeeper for performing these services without the qualifications.
